Recent Developments

It was our last Sunday attending the ward today,
and Caleb turned 7 months old!

It's been a busy month for our baby Caleb!

Finally after four months of teething, a tooth!

Yes. I know that in the picture there are TWO teeth.
I didn't get around to snapping a photo for the first one. Wonderful shot though, isn't it? :P
A photo to show girlfriends for years to come, for sure.

Caleb graduated to the big tub this past week! He LOVES it.
He scoots around and loves to see his reflection in the drain stopper (OoOoO... shiny!)

He also loves his rubber duck. Don't you just love the quote, you Harry Potter fans?

Finally, Caleb can sit-up by himself, no Boppy required. At the time of this photo he could also get up on all fours (hands and knees).
Tonight, Caleb "crawled" to Michael!
He is really getting this whole "mobility" thing down.

The Great Sleep Depression of '08

Oh no, don't be fooled by the cuteness.

Caleb is nothing but TROUBLE!

I caught a cold. I don't know how, (maybe it was Primary, maybe Michael brought something home from work) but I caught it. More like it body-checked me.
You see, all I need to get over a cold is fluids, vitamin C and SLEEP. If I get those three things I'll be good in three days.

But oh no...

poor Caleb. He decided this week (after he got his six month shots) to wake up every hour on the hour from 8:00-4:00. Not only that. He has to be held in order to fall asleep and stay asleep.
Cue the car seat. Rock Caleb to sleep and slip him in the car seat and walk away. This ritual extends his sleep periods by another hour. Three days has past and needless to say, I'm not better. I still have packing to do. (12 more days until we move!)

Although the past three nights have been strenuous on my immune system, I have to admit how much I love my son, and the time I spend with him. After rocking him to sleep I like to just hold him for a little while before sneaking off to bed. It delights and saddens me to study his features and realize he growing far too quickly.
He is growing in his hair, his gummy smile has now sprouted two tiny teeth, he once fit neatly on my lap- now arms and legs dangle over the sides. (By the way, at his doctor's appointment he was measured: 27.75 inches & 17 lbs, 15 oz, and a very large head)

It excites me and makes me want another baby again, so I can have another "newborn" another "2 month old" another "4 month old" and so on.
It makes me think how happy/lucky Heavenly Father is, he has so many children at so many different stages of progression and he gets to witness it all, and is never left for want.

To sum up this posting in other words,

Ah, motherhood. : )

I made these for my parents, now I want Caleb to have one up in the nursery. I print the pedigree on velum and overlay it unto a picture. I was thinking of using a naivety picture for the backing this time.
#3 Family History Story Book
I made a family history activity book before, now I want to make a storybook for my nieces and nephews. It's entitled Some of My Ancestors. The manuscript has already been written I just have to put it together. Here is a page:

I’m in the process of gathering the materials for this project. I’m going to use Heritage Cookbook to create the book.

Will anyone ever guess Fig’s middle name? Who will win the 367 dollars? Will Ammon get the moo-lah he needs to wow Rev Palmer’s daughter Prom night? And what is the theme for Mormon Prom this year? More importantly, will Fig do the right thing and call off the lottery before his good name gets tarnished? I know the answers to these questions and more, I just need to write them down. So much is happening in the small town of Campbell. :)

Jody and I at Girl's Camp

I learned how to make PJ bottoms in YWs. We made a pair each year for girl’s camp. The picture shown here was one of our Stake years, the theme was Olympics (the Olympics were in SLC that year) and our ward was South Africa. Those were the capris we made that year (we made capris and PJs). If you look in the background, you’ll see paint buckets that are topped with padding and fabric. We used them for chairs. Comfy and efficient (we carried them everywhere and carried our mess kits and scriptures and handbooks in them).
That was also the year we had to evacuate the campsite because of a forest fire. That is another story for another day.

I know, I know, we say it every six months, but really, WOW. Great Conference.

Here are a few of the one-liners I jotted down in my “refrigerator quote” column:

What did you jot down during Conference?

I’m am glad to say that all my concerns and questions I’ve had over the past month have been met.

Anyways. Do you like to eat unpoped corn kernels or like the taste of cornnuts? Well, then I’ve got a snack for you.

“Popped” wheat kernels. The recipe is given in a pamphlet provided with the Starter Kit. I’m doing to have to buy some honey and make some granola with these beauties in it. That would be wonderful.

Other than that, nothing too new on the Eastern Thomson front.

I made another Caleb scrap for Grandma!

The scripture in teh scrap is talking about Caleb from the Old Testament, one of our Caleb’s namesakes. Caleb is also named after his (count them) great. great, great, great, great grandfather Caleb Baldwin. Whew. That’s awfully ‘great.’ He was one of the prisoners in Liberty Jail. He was actually the oldest prisoner in Liberty Jail. Well, that’s enough about Caleb, maybe I’ll tell you one day where he got his middle name from.

Hubalou's Kitchen
