It’s that time of the year again. General Conference.
Three weeks ago, our family sat down after a Family Home Evening and discussed questions and concerns that our family could pray about in preparation of G.C. this April.
Together we came up with six.
More preparation goes into our conference weekend than you’d think. Sure, we don’t have our usual three-hour-block worth of church meetings, but still, at least in our family, we need to prepare. For us the G.C. weekend is all about the food and snacks… and spiritual enrichment. Mostly spiritual nourishment.
Typically we have on our menu for conference weekend…- Waffles or cinnamon rolls for breakfast
- Frozen grapes, veggies with ranch, crackers and cheez wiz for snacks
- Cream Cheese Chicken (aka Crockpot Chicken) for dinner
- then while Mike is away at the priesthood session, I’d make cookies so we could eat and discuss the session upon his arrival home.
- Then Sunday is a day of chicken salad. We eat it for most of the day except for breakfast… not without effort of trying… on my part.
Two things throw a wrench in my traditional menu. First, the Priesthood session. Here, it starts at 8:00. Yeah, I’m not gonna be baking cookies that late at night, and forget waiting up for a conversation. Phish.
Second, um, Easter falls on General Conference weekend this year. . .
Do I disrupt my chicken salad binge of happiness (CSBH) for the sake of holiday tradition?
Do I carry on with my CSBH for the sake of G.C. tradition?
OR do I just serve the CSBH with a side of funeral potatoes and call it even?
What do you think, blogdom?
Do you support the CSBH? Or is it time to purge?Comment and let me know about your G.C. and Easter traditions
and also your stance on the CSBH issue.

I vote for chicken salad binge with side of funeral potatoes--get the best of both worlds.
Chicken salad sure is good, we had it for dinner Saturday night.
Chicken salad for Saturday! something special for Easter on Sunday? We are having Roast beef with Delmonico potaoes and green beans with almond slivers. Yum!
I vote eating anything that doesn't make you want to vomit. Wait....maybe I am not the best person to ask. As per parody, I am hoping we would be friends lifelong anyhow :)

wow. I'm always amazed at your amazingness...(I know that is not a word, because it is underlined in a red squiggle with no suggestions, however...)I just wish I could be a little like you, I have yet to think about a menu/traditions for either Easter or Conference but I am sad that they fall on the same day, mostly because I bought the girls matching Easter dresses, and there is no need for dresses on Easter Sunday. Sad. But we usually spend Easter at Mahlon's Family so that is what we are doing and I am going to miss the usual watching of Conference in the comfort and quite of our own home. Plus, we may be getting keys to our new home Friday, which makes it very difficult to sit down Saturday and watch Conference, rather than move in, but I'm happy to admit, I'd rather watch Conference.
I envy your simple, quite, G.C. / Easter weekend-and your Chicken Salad.
p.s. I updated my blog, twice!
ROFL props on the update. Love it. I will have a love affair with April on the condition that it does not snow. Is that dedication? LOL
